I hope you’re in the mood for a sugar hit because I have a whole lot of sweet for you today, with this cute-as-a-button bridal shower. The best part is it’s all totally doable: there’s nothing too challenging in the kitchen, the crafts are dead easy and everything except the invitation is available for you to download free!
Here’s how to pull it off:
Do your homework
Send out one of these recipe cards with each invitation, along with instructions to the guest to fill in their favourite recipe. You can then bundle them up and present to the bride to kick-start her recipe collection.
Set the scene
Push your table against the wall to create your dessert table and peg up the Love Sweet Love banner using Command strips. I used some gorgeous patterned fabric by Heather Bailey as a tablecloth.
Add some details
Whip up some flowers using buttons and wire. They’ll be great if you want to give the bride some kind of ‘bouquet’ or to add height to your cake table.
Bake up a storm
Make some mini cupcakes in your favourite flavour. Instead of tearing your hair out trying to achieve impeccably swirled icing or perfect piping, try using buttercream. Apart from having superior yum factor, it is also looks great just casually spread on. Finish it off with some coloured sugar crystals and a cute flag.
Pink your platter
Jazz up plain servingware with scrapbooking paper trimmed using pinking shears.
Take a shortcut
Keep your sanity and embrace the concept of semi-homemade. Buy store-bought biscuits and add your own coloured icing and four dots to mimic a button.
Do a favour
Party favours or game prizes needn’t be expensive. Simply package up some sweet treats in a cellophane bag and seal with a free printable sticker.
Here are all the bits and pieces for you to download and print at home:
